Cassandra Jean Amell, née Whitehead (born October 5, 1985) was a contestant on cycle 5 of ANTM in 2005. She was known as the first girl to quit the show, and placed eleventh.

Early life[]

Whitehead went to Cypress Creek High School and later attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Whitehead appeared on an episode of the Game Show Network show Lingo.

Beauty pageants[]

She competed in the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant from 2002 to 2004. She was a semi-finalist in both 2003 and 2004, and held the local title Miss Houston Teen USA in 2003. In these pageants, she competed alongside future Miss Texas USAs Lauren Lanning (2006) and Magen Ellis (2007). In 2005, Whitehead won the Miss Corpus Christi crown (a title held by Eva Longoria in 1998) and making the top 10 at Miss Texas USA 2005.

She is the cousin of Nicole O'Brian, a former Miss Texas Teen USA and Miss Texas USA.

ANTM[]

Cassandra was most known for quitting in the fourth episode. She became emotional during the makeovers in episode three, wherein her long, dark brown hair was cut extremely short and dyed blonde, in an attempt to create a look similar to that of actress Mia Farrow in the film Rosemary's Baby. During the next judging round, Tyra was still not pleased with Cassandra's haircut as she wanted to make it even shorter. During the fashion victim photoshoot, she was scheduled to have another haircut, but she refused. Mr. Jay told her to the leave the set, and called Tyra on cell phone to notify her that Cassandra left the show.

Cassandra claimed that the producers gave her one night to consider her options, following which she decided to walk out of the competition. She also claimed that she was unhappy at the way they attempted to change her attitude.
